Pray. Believe. Trust. Faith. It’s the only way…

We’ve all heard the saying, “When life hands you lemons, you make lemonade.”  Apparently, we’re open for business…I’ve got my lemonade stand all ready and set to go.  I refuse to be a victim of circumstance.  I prefer to take control and move on.  Learn from our mistakes.  Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.  Drop back and punt.  Keep calm and carry on.  And all the other clichés out there that basically help us get over it.

One of my favorite historical figures is Winston Churchill.  The man just plain fires me up.  We’re talking eyes welling with tears and a lump in my throat, people. I can’t help it.  And so I quote:

You cannot tell from appearances how things will go. Sometimes imagination makes things out far worse than they are; yet without imagination not much can be done. Those people who are imaginative see many more dangers than perhaps exist; certainly many more than will happen; but then they must also pray to be given that extra courage to carry this far-reaching imagination……never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never-in nothing, great or small, large or petty - never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.

So, as my family makes a small fortune from our new lemonade empire, I have to ask:  How do you handle life’s little curve balls?  xoxo -s

  1. Hope spring eternal. I was sad, but reading your piece on faith is so frank, so completely honest. I love it...now how do I get a permit for a lemonade stand????
